The 80's...

Thanks to Mr. Bates, I now have a copy of Electric Dreams(*). But now I do have to ask... what were we thinking back then??

(*)Because he inspired me to go an get a copy. Not because he copied it for me, which I'm sure a lot of you are suspecting right now. Shame on you...

I have also purchased a copy of Electric Dreams. I'm a sucker for these 80s collections as it's such a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Many of these tracks bring back memories of where I was and what I was doing when I heard those songs originally.

So which do you think are the best tracks on the album, and which don't deserve to be there...?

The question is probably more: what do I recognise?

Certainly, seeing songs like "Der Kommissar", "99 Luftballons", "Axel F" and "Sierra Leone" make me want to get it. But then there are songs like "Pop Muzik", "19", "Too Shy" and "I Ran" which come flooding back as I hear them. Great stuff!

On the other hand, there is stuff I've never heard of "To Cut A Long Story Short" (surely "True" would have been better, although perhaps not as electronic?), "I'm Only Shooting Love" and "Temptation".

And then I was surprised when I heard "Are 'Friends' Electric", because speed it up slightly and suddenly you've got the tune to Sugababes' "Freak Like Me"!

All sorts of really silly things were cool during the 80s. But then that's true of most decades. :)
